Andy Reid era coming to an end in Philadelphia?

The 'shattered dream team' Philadelphia Eagles couldn't do much of anything on offense, except occasionally run the football. The Eagles were stopped numerous times in the red zone by the New Orleans Saints, mainly because of horrible offensive line play.

The Eagles were supposed to get back on track against a Saints defense on track to break records in yards allowed per game for a single season. This was supposed to be the game the Eagles climbed back to .500. Instead, this game was one in which it became apparent to all watching that the Eagles have issues on both sides of the ball, and that quarterback Michael Vick isn't good enough to carry a team by himself.

Earlier this year, the NFL moved the trade deadline from the end of week six to the end of week eight.
The NFL is considering once again pushing back the trade deadline, this time because of the weather.

Revis wants to retire a Jet

Four-time Pro Bowl CB Darrelle Revis wants a contract that will let him retire a Jet.

"I want to retire here," Revis told Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger. "I think (general manager) Mike (Tannenbaum) knows that. I think Rex (Ryan) knows that. (The Jets) drafted me, they gave me a chance, so yeah, I want to be here and never play for another organization again. If they feel that, if Mike feels that I’m that type of person to be here, then they will compensate me. If not, then it's the business of it."

If he does get a contract that would let him retire a Jet, it would be similar to baseball Hall of Famer George Brett who signed a lifetime contract with the Kansas City Royals.

Revis hasn't said whether or not he will be at training camp when it starts July 26 for The Jets. This may mean a third holdout from the three-time First-Team All-Pro.

In 2010 Revis got a "Band-Aid" contract that has given him $32.5 million over the past twenty-one months. In the next two seasons the star CB will receive $13.5 million, and is not the highest paid cornerback in the league anymore.

Nnamdi Asomugha signed a $60 million deal with Philadelphia surpassing Revis' contract. Even Antonio Cromartie will earn $3 million more than Revis.

Part of his 2010 extension , if Revis has another holdout would mean three seasons (at $3 million base salary a year) that would void at the end of his contract if he's on the Jet's roster one day after the 2013 Pro Bowl. They are not even able to Franchise/Transition tag Revis either.

Revis made comments that he is aware that it's up to the Jets if they want to do an extension.

"I could come here every day and make a hassle, 'I want to get paid', but if they don’t want to do that -- if Mike doesn't want to do that -- then they don't want to do that," Revis said. "It might be that way. It might be they want to do it, but they’ve got to figure out the best situation to get it done."

Vick tired of repeated questions

Eagles QB Michael Vick has become annoyed of questions he's heard over and over. 

"I really don't think I need to discuss what type of game I'm going to play. It's going to be what it's going to be. It seems like the questions are becoming repetitive, and I'm tired of answering it because the only thing we can do is wait and see if I'm going to play a more disciplined game," Vick said after the team's OTA on Friday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. "There's not too much more to say or to talk about."

"There's no reason to keep digging and to [be] talking about it and saying, 'Change your style. Are you holding the ball too long?' I'm over that. That's not the reason, and I think sometimes people make assumptions not really knowing what needs to be done," Vick continued.

In 2011, Vick missed three games, but in many of the games he played in he played hurt with rib injuries and a broken hand. Vick fumbled the ball 14 times losing it 4 times. He also threw 14 interceptions as compared to 18 TDs. While Vick was frustrated he did say he needed to stay healthy for the Eagles to have success.

"I accept responsibility for everything. I feel that my sole responsibility is this team; we're going to go as I go," he said. "If I'm not on the field, I'm not helping the team in any shape, form, or fashion. The turnovers, that's my responsibility," he said. "I understand the responsibility and the role that comes along with being a quarterback, and I accept it. Sometimes I just don't accept people saying things and really not knowing what they're talking about."

He gave those comments just one day after being asked by SportsRadio 94's Anthony Gargano about if he takes too many hits. "To answer that question, you gotta play the game of football," Vick said Thursday on the radio show. "I know what you’re saying, but you’re saying not go through my progressions and just if number one’s not there and number two’s not there throw the ball away." 

Burress looking for another contract

One of the best free agents still available, Plaxico Burress, has talked about the Oakland Raiders as one of the teams he would like to join. So far this offseason though, all thirty-two teams have not shown interest in the thirty-four year-old wideout. 

"I've always thought that Carson Palmer has been one of the best deep-ball throwers in all of football since I can remember," Burress told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday, via Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. "They do have some great talent over there in Darrius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy. I think those guys are only going to get better with Carson."

While on the Jets last year Burress caught 45 passes for 612 yards, and 8 touchdowns. Palmer coud maybe improve those numbers with his big arm, but the Raiders as well have shown no interest.

Other teams that Burress has talked about that he would like to join are the Eagles and the Browns.
