Buccaneers acquire DT Okoye

by Ryan Ebert

After a year with the Bears last year and spending his first four years with the Houston Texans, defensive tackle Amobi Okoye has signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The signing creates more depth along the defensive line for Tampa Bay.  Okoye will have the chance to fight for the second defensive tackle position with Brian Price.

Okoye had a promising rookie season with 5.5 sacks, but never produced more than 3 sacks in the following years.  In Chicago he put up 4 sacks playing all 16 games with only 1 start.  This could be a good move for both sides as the Bucs get a versatile defensive tackle who can pass rush, and Okoye can rest at times depending on the situation at hand.
