Stroud retires a Jaguar

by Ryan Ebert

Defensive tackle Marcus Stroud at the beginning of the 2012 offseason wanted to return and play in the NFL. No team has taken interest in him and so Stroud has decided to sign a one-day contract with the Jaguars and retire. Stroud was the #13 overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection.

"This is where I started my career and where I was able to have my most productive years," Stroud said. "The Jaguars are like family and I know this is where I belong."

In 2008 Stroud was traded to the Bills and spent three seasons with there after spending seven seasons in Jacksonville.

Stroud totaled 647 tackles and 29 and a half sacks in 146 games.

Stroud to enter the NFL after missing 2012

by Ryan Ebert

Three-time Pro Bowl DT Marcus Stroud wants to play again after sitting out the entire 2012 season. He has played for the Jaguars and Bills. He took the year off to rehabilitate himself after shoulder surgery. Last year he signed with New England, but wasn't healthy enough. The lockout prevented him from properly rehabbing, and had other problems that included a staph infection.

"I'm feeling healthy and everything, and I want to see if I can give it one more chance," Stroud said. "If I can, I can; if I can't, I'm satisfied, too."

Stroud is now 33 and has accumulated 424 tackles, 29.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles in 10 seasons. He made the Pro Bowl in 2003, 2004, and 2005. From 2001 to 2007 he played with Jacksonville and 2008 to 2010 he played for Buffalo.

"If somebody's willing to give me a call, I definitely want to get in and show what I can do," he said.
