Maybe you've seen the recent posts on the internet or facebook of numerous sites looking for writers before the start of the NFL season. This stuff doesn't write itself, so I can't blame them.
I am going to do the same thing here. If you want to write about your favorite NFL team, contact me at the e-mail above. I can get you started right away.
What you need to know is that I have a few rules I like to live and write by. Maybe after you are done reading this post, you'll agree with me.
What we do here is simple, we write about NFL football. Each team has it's own sub domain, the articles for 10 different sports and 120 different teams are not jumbled together on one page. You want your stuff read, and if someone is looking to read about the Detroit Lions, for instance, that's what they get at the Evidence and the Lions, Lions football.
I am not trying to get 10 million readers overnight, I do not spam or beg for reads, and that's an important rule with me. If you decide to write here, post links to your work, I'm fine with that, just don't beg for reads or page hits. If people like what we write, it's my philosophy that they will come and read it. This may not happen overnight, but it will happen.
If you decide to join us here at NFL-EN, I am not your boss. I will not tell you that you must write X amount of posts a week. That isn't me. I am a fan of the NFL. If you love football and writing, you'll write. This is, however, an NFL Football site, and as such, probably has younger readers. Strong language in any articles will not be tolerated. If you need help with anything, I'm there. I'll answer any and all questions as I see them when you write here. I do, however, work 6 and 7 day weeks.
We don't write 20 articles a day about Tim Tebow or whatever might be trending at the time just because it's hot. It's hot because the media has made it a hot topic, getting the audience,(viewer or reader), to buy into an idea that may or may not be true. We write about our teams, and what we think is relevant about our teams. As another example, I must once again point to The Evidence and the Lions. You will not find 5 or more back to back articles on the Leshoure suspension or Matthew Stafford, or Calvin Johnson. Believe me, we could write 'em. Thing is, this is a team sport.
If people are passionate about football, and there are a great many, we hope they find this site, and we hope they enjoy it. We like writing, and are willing to put in the work. No shortcuts. No give-aways.
I believe that if a football site is built on these ideas, it will find long term success, not just short term popularity. If you have these same beliefs, send me a message on facebook(click on my name at the top), or send me an e-mail at dave@nflen.com.
