Yesterday the New Orleans Saints used the exclusive rights franchise tag on Drew Brees, meaning the Saints will own his rights for the 2012 season. The tag value is expected to be between $16 million and $17 million.
This came after reports had Brees and his agent turning down the Saints latest offer, which would have made Brees the highest paid quarterback in the NFL.
